Project background
Overview
Aristx is a gambling and betting platform catering to the South Africa market. The client approached us with a critical issue: their existing app was non-functional, with broken sign-up/sign-in processes and other major bugs that blocked it from moving into the QA phase. The client’s previous developer was no longer available, and with a fast-approaching deadline, they needed urgent help. Their goal was to launch the app into the QA stage before the end of March to remain competitive in the market.
We stepped in to fix all the critical bugs within two weeks to ensure the app could pass QA testing. Additionally, we provided business analysis (BA) for both the existing app and the local gambling and betting market to refine their strategy for success. The next phase involved full mobile development for 1.5 months, using React Native, ensuring the app was ready for deployment into the testing phase.
Project Goals
- Fix critical issues in the existing app to make it functional for QA testing.
- Ensure the app meets the client’s deadline and is ready for QA.
- Develop a seamless user experience, particularly for registration, login, and betting features.
- Position Aristx as a competitive player in the South African gambling market.
- Mobileapp
- 4team members
- 800+hours spent
- Gamblingdomain
Challenges
- Extremely tight deadline of two weeks to fix critical bugs and make the app functional.
- The app was abandoned by the previous developer, leading to incomplete documentation and complex issues.
- Compliance with the unique regulations and requirements of the South African gambling and betting market.
- Resolving deeply rooted bugs in both the frontend and backend systems.
Our approach
Solution
Our first step was performing a comprehensive BA analysis to understand both the market and the existing application. We worked closely with the client’s team to understand their immediate pain points, and our two developers immediately began fixing the critical bugs that were halting the app’s functionality. Within two weeks, we successfully resolved the sign-up/sign-in issues and other critical bugs, making the app operational for the first time since development began.
Next, we proceeded with mobile development, working on improving the user experience and adding necessary features to make the app ready for the QA phase. The project included rewriting and optimizing code, fixing broken functionalities, and ensuring seamless integration of key gambling and betting features.
Team
A team consisting of 2 mobile developers one of which is a tech lead, a project manager coordinating deadlines and communication with the client, and 1 business analyst.
Results
Our team managed to get the Aristx app fully operational, allowing it to move to the QA stage within the necessary deadline. Over the course of two weeks, we successfully addressed all critical bugs, including fixing sign-up and sign-in processes. By conducting a thorough business analysis, we gained key insights into the South African gambling market, which informed both our development process and future feature recommendations.
Additionally, our developers restructured the app, optimized performance, and integrated essential betting features that were missing from the initial build. As a result, Aristx was set on the path to becoming a competitive player in the market, with a fully functional, tested app ready to launch.
